**** My Review ****

How much is the risk worth if the gain slips through your hands? When what you want is what hurts you the most? One moment, and the moment drags on into eternity, an eternity that offers many answers, but also creates new questions, questions whose answers you want but are afraid of their truth, your truth … One beginning and one end …

The end can be a new beginning, it depends on how you look at it…her hopes, her pride, her reputation, her virginity…everything is lost. The precious house that symbolized her last hope is gone…penniless and alone, Avery continues her fight. Hitting rock bottom is only a new beginning where her strength will be tested, her dreams shattered and maybe she’ll find answers to the pile of questions that plague her…only if she’s brave enough.

Gabriel is still the same, dark and dangerous but deliciously handsome…cruel and ruthless and yet so irresistible. Pushing her way, only to pull her even closer. Trying to break and heal her at the same time. Playing games, carefully planned moves that lead to the ultimate victory. But will his queen fight against him or by his side? What will happen once the secrets are revealed and the leverage gone?

This installment picks right where The Pawn ends and the author one more time manages to create a gripping continuation that pulls readers right from the beginning. The story is once again told through Avery’s POV which additionally enhances the mystery and enigma around Gabriel and makes him even more appealing and memorable. Seeing glimpses of his vulnerability and the emotional part is so swoon-worthy. He is the ultimate anti-hero how captures your heart. Wanting to hate him, but unable to do so.

The plot is definitely nail-biting, easy to follow, yet so complex. And the twists and turns will keep you on the edge of your seat through the whole ride. And what to say about her masterful storytelling skills? Absolutely fantastic and extremely gripping, every word, every sentence so masterfully written as to evoke a storm of emotions in the readers.

As you read, you can literally visualize the scenes and see every detail, every movement, and every subtle gesture. The characters so familiar, and new at the same time. Their development so obvious and greatly described. And the feelings are more than overwhelming, the chemistry so strong, so palatable, the emotion connection-partly hidden, yet so visible. The secondary characters are greatly portrayed and perfectly contribute to the appeal and relevance of the story. Some of them manage to intrigue us and make us wish to have their stories, their fears and feelings in front of us.

Definitely, a fabulous and suspenseful story, filled with enough twists and turns that will keep you consumed into their world till the very end. The end, which is only the beginning of the final part that you will so eagerly want. The Knight (Endgame #2) by Skye Warren is a shadowy world which every reader should read.
