*** My Review ***
When Tomorrow Came by Hannah Linder is a beautiful Regency romance that will leave you heartbroken, yet hopeful. Linder has created a captivating story that is expertly written and full of three-dimensional characters that feel like real people. The themes of love, friendship, family, faith, and hope are interwoven seamlessly throughout the plot, making this an incredibly inspiring and heartwarming read.
Nan and Heath are two of the most endearing characters I have come across in a long time. Their familial bond is incredibly strong, and it is heartwarming to see how much they care for each other. Heath, in particular, is a standout character. He is kind, brave, and selfless, and it is impossible not to root for him. The romance in the story is sweet and develops naturally, adding an extra layer of depth to an already richly layered plot.
I was really surrised by how much I liked the romantic aspect, the way it building slowly and naturally over the course of the story was amazing. It’s refreshing to see a romance that is not based solely on physical attraction, but rather on a deep emotional connection between the characters. Nan and Heath’s relationship is heartwarming and inspiring, and readers will find themselves rooting for their love to triumph over all obstacles.
In addition to the romance, When Tomorrow Came explores themes of love, friendship, family, faith, and hope. The characters’ struggles and triumphs will resonate with readers on a deep level, and the story is ultimately one of resilience and the power of love to overcome even the darkest of circumstances.
The cast of characters in When Tomorrow Came is superb, with a couple of villains readers will love to hate, a couple of heroes they will root for, and a damsel in distress. However, it is the secondary characters, like Mr. Stanhope, who steal the show. He is the perfect foil to Duncan and brings a lightness to the story that is much appreciated.
Linder’s writing style is smooth and lyrical, and she expertly builds tension throughout the plot, keeping readers guessing until the very end. The storyline is a little dark, but I found myself unable to put the book down. The romantic angst and danger lurking around every corner kept me frantically turning pages, desperate for the happy ending I knew was coming.
One of the most striking things about When Tomorrow Came is how well Linder brings the Regency era England to life. The historical setting is expertly researched and described in vivid detail, transporting readers to another time and place. The social norms, customs, and manners of the era are seamlessly woven into the plot, making this a must-read for anyone who loves historical fiction.
While the story is primarily a romance, there are also elements of suspense and mystery that will keep readers on the edge of their seats. The danger lurking in the background adds an extra layer of tension to the plot and keeps readers guessing until the very end. It is a testament to Linder’s skill as a writer that she is able to balance these different elements so expertly.
The only downside to When Tomorrow Came is the content warning for references to abuse and violence. While these elements are handled sensitively and are not gratuitous, readers who are sensitive to these topics may want to approach the book with caution.
Overall, When Tomorrow Came is a gem of a story and a true diamond of the first water. Fans of Regency romance with a subtle faith thread will be delighted by this book, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for an engaging and heartwarming read.
This sounds very good and I like that there’s suspense and mystery added in with the romance. Fantastic review as always.
