****My Review ****

The Black Storm by Kathryn Le Veque  is a perfect choice for all those who want to travel back in time, more specifically to the Middle Ages, where a protective knight, a damsel in distress, and three dogs will capture your attention until the very end. And believe me, you will not be disappointed, on the contrary, this book is fantastic, not only from an entertaining aspect, but also from a detailed and informative aspect, which is a real rarity in historical romances these days. Reading the richly detailed descriptions  will probably make you look for additional information about the period.

One look was enough for Catherine de Tuberville to immediately fall in love with that brave knight, that unusual man, whose arms offer security and protection… Those blue eyes that mesmerized her, ofeer delights unknown, yet so wanted… Fearless and powerful, he is the right man for her… Beautiful Catherine is the answer to all his prayers, a woman who can give him everything that life took away from him at birth, she is perfect for him…. Sweet love story, right? But what will happen when a greedy mother and a dangerous villain are added into the picture? The story takes a different turn, right? What is the value of a daughter, except as a tool to improve the social position and family wealth…?  Why is there a need to enjoy true love, when power is so much sweeter…? Will the tender love of Ridge de Reyne and Catherine de Tuberville have the power to overcome all obstacles or will it remain just a sweet dream?

It cannot be disputed that the Kathryn Le Veque  has once again woven a story in which good and evil compete till the very end, emotions rage and love and friendship become the ultimate joy. Pages filled with enough tension and suspense, with an interesting plot and well-developed main and secondary characters are the equation. which this author applies to all her books, but always in a new, unique light. The main character is a true embodiment of what a knight should have been in the Middle Ages. Brave and honest, so utmost graciousness and courteous towards women, Ridge is pure perfection in every way, except for one flaw, which unfortunately has been his burden since birth. The heroine on the other hand surprised me with her strength, gentle and sheltered her whole life, Catherine de Tuberville shows determination and courage that really do not fit in the description of a gentle unmarried lady of the period. But I loved her character even more because of that. The supporting characters, some known to readers, some not were so well integrated into the whole story, puprosefuly integrated to complement the whole. What always impresses me about Kathryn Le Veque  ‘s style is her dedication to research and detail. It must be admitted that it takes a lot of effort and talent to create a story that effortlessly draws the reader back to the 13th century, that at times you seem to be there and vividly follow the events from nearby. The author masterfully shows us the meaning and purpose of a woman’s life in a society, shackled by social norms, huge flaws and expectations that can undoubtedly startle the modern reader.

Without any doubt, The Black Storm is a story that can be read in one sitting, so simple, so easy to read, but deep and profuse at the same time. A story full of truths, some historical and some general. Highly recommended for all those who enjoy stories that reflect a distant time and place, and love as the driving force behind us all.
