**** My Review ****
Love can be a powerful force, one that can take hold of us in unexpected ways. Sometimes, it can completely dominate us, leaving us powerless to make our own decisions. This is the premise behind “Lethal,” the first book in “The Disciples” series by Cassandra Robbins.
The story centers around Blade, the president of an MC (motorcycle club), and Eve, a beautiful gypsy who becomes a pawn in his dark game. When Blade takes Eve as payment for her brother’s debt, a series of events unfolds that will shock and delight readers.
At the heart of the story is Blade’s struggle between the desire to fit into his predetermined role as club president and his desire to become the right man for Eve. He is torn between his obsession with Eve and the expectations placed upon him as a leader in his club. This inner conflict leads to hot and cold behavior, threats to be with other women, and even moments of cruelty towards Eve.
Despite these moments of cruelty, Blade’s obsession with Eve is clear. He is completely into her, and although he claims to be interested in other women in the club, he does nothing to pursue them, which confuses him.
Eve, for her part, is a person without the right to choose, without the right to say anything. She is a pawn in Blade’s dark game, but she is also a strong and gentle woman who manages to stand up to Blade in her own way.
What follows is a beautifully written love story, with a dose of brutal cruelty, but enough love and deep affection that readers will simply enjoy. Robbins masterfully manages to intertwine secrets with truth, exploring concepts such as the price of love, the pain of adultery, and true affection and acceptance.
The main characters are fully developed in every way, with enough details and intimate thoughts in both their narratives to allow the reader to fully experience the story. Blade is a combination of anti-hero and swoon-worthy one, and although at times his behavior is difficult to read, his inner conflict is palpable. Eve, on the other hand, may not be as remarkable on her own, but together with Blade, they are the real deal.
Overall, “Lethal” is an ok read. The sweet moments combined with the steamy ones will greatly contribute to overcoming the shock of Blade’s brutality, and the well-written plot, combined with the supporting characters, make this book even more appealing.
If you’re a fan of MC romance, then “Lethal” is a must-read. It’s a promising start to a series filled with alpha males and strong women who are able to tame them. Every romantic girl’s dream, right?
In conclusion, “Lethal” by Cassandra Robbins is a compelling read that will leave readers hooked from beginning to end. It explores themes of love, power, and cruelty, and will take you on a journey of self-discovery, passion, and redemption.
