**** My Review ****
Kelsey Clayton is a brand new author for me and I can sincerely say she writes exactly the way I like it….easy, sweet, steamy with enough angst and drama to keep my attention from beginning to end.
‘Corrupt My Mind’ is a entertaining, love tale of two complicated characters overcoming darkness to find light, to find happiness. The forbidden love element might seem a bit cliché, but this sinfully, delicious story in which two souls, seemingly unsuitable for each other form the most perfect couple, will leave you panting and wanting for more.
One party, one look, one breath…..everything is permitted but falling for your best friend’s little sister is totally off-limits.
Zeyn, our dark hero, the kind of person every girl needs to avoid, but at the same time, everything a girl needs to be happy. Under the hard edge exterior, lies a guy who is loyal, unselfish and ultimately soulful and sweet, not to mention sexy-as-sin, emotional and protective as hell….What else does a girl need?
The dream of many girls on campus, the handsome Zeyn gets the shock of a lifetime when he sees her, the gorgeous and innocent Amelia. His little Meelz, the awkward 13-year old when he last saw her, now a true beauty and his best friend’s baby-sister. Her assertiveness and the numerous attempts for open and honest communication were more than refreshing. Delicate and extremely attractive she manages to capture him. At the same time Amelia is bold enough to slap the truth in his face. And brave enough to reach for what she wants, yet smart and confident enough to accept the defeat and go on with her life.
And he, conflicted by his own feelings, trying to do the right thing and avoid the unavoidable, he has his own interesting moments, during which I wasn’t sure whether I wanted to slap him across his face or cuddle with him. What I loved the most of this is the fact that he does not hurt the heroine because of his ego, some other shortcoming or his own baggage-his loyalty towards his friends and love of others cause his downfall at the end.
And those two together, a real spectrum of emotions, fireworks of passion and irresistable chemistry. He’s the dream she never thought would come true. However, when opportunity presents she’s ready to put her heart on the line. But is he willing to go all in or will he hurt her?
If only things could be easy for them. Add the villain and a HEA becomes nearly impossible.
As you’re reading, your mind and heart are going through so many different emotions, from anger, to happiness, to sadness, to even joy of watching this relationship grow from secret meetings and stolen kisses to the real thing.
The author skillfully guides us from the beginning to the end of their story, through the wonderful relationship of these two characters, mixing parts of the past and the present, different stages of their connection. What started as a platonic love in the past is developed into a schorching desire and true love and affection. A slow burning story with the longing effect on its highest. Told through alternating 1st person POV chapters, readers get insight each character’s head, enjoying every single moment especially the times when the 2 young lovers try to hide their emotions.
The feisty back-and-forth Zeyn and Meelz had, the push and pull adds a dash of humor, which combined with the steamy and swoony moments make this book simply fabulous. Corrupt My Mind by Kelsey Clayton is a charming and naughty rollercoaster that make it an excellent choice for a lazy, afternoon read.
