Private Property by Skye Warren
Some writers are skilled at surprising their readers, sometimes in a good way and sometimes in a bad way. Some writers can let you down at least once. However, there are those authors who, with each new narrative, can charm you with their opulent creativity and extraordinary imagination. One of them is this Skye Warren.
You’ll be eager to flip the pages as the author’s wild imagination once again conjured up a contemporary and gloomy tale with just enough references to one classical giant.
But watch out for the finish. Once such a turn occurs, you won’t be able to sleep until the novel is done. I would have thrown a huge temper tantrum if I hadn’t known that the second half was available. A very well-known story that served as the basis for a contemporary author’s work—did it maintain the magnificence of the classic or devolve into yet another cliché?
Few authors can attempt to handle such a literary jewel while maintaining the cozy familiarity and adding enough originality and freshness. But when that tale is spun by this author, there is absolutely no issue with it. Once again, she has used her words and storytelling abilities to craft a tale with a complex narrative that will enthrall readers with its blend of romance and suspense.
The sheer concept of resembling Jane Eyre compelled me to pick up this novel, but after only a few chapters, I couldn’t put it down. Neither sleep nor weariness was a factor.
Rochester and Jane are a pair who will certainly delight you, with an extraordinary attraction that simply cannot be denied. As in the original novel, our modern-day Jane finds herself in Maine with the enigmatic and foreboding Rochester family.
Her search for a better life leads her to this bleak family and her job as a nanny to Mr. Rochester’s little orphaned niece. The necessity for money drove her to take the job, to work for that chilly and reclusive rich guy who hides behind a cloak of mystery and isolation. Her purity and freshness vs his dark sensuality – a match that will keep you awake at night.
Private Property by Skye Warren brilliantly conveys and balances elements from the original story, such as dark sensuality and gloomy sadness, as well as distinctive ambiguity. The tension and mystery are simply overwhelming, while the characters are presented in a way that discreetly recalls the original characters while still breathing new life and creativity.
The author developed an extremely seductive and forbidden relationship with just enough mystery and passion to keep readers engaged from start to finish. Her exceptional writing will have you on the edge of your seat, and the cliffhanger at the conclusion will keep you up long after you’ve completed the final paragraph……
Fortunately, the second installment has already been released.
Private Property is a lovely story about grief, forgiveness, and regaining one’s life. If you enjoy a moody older man and a nanny who is stronger than she thinks, this is the book for you. An age difference, strangers to lovers, forced proximity, and romantic tension with hilarious and hot moments effortlessly mixed in are more than enough to hold your interest till the conclusion.
