****My Review****

Only Girl Alive by Holly S. Roberts

I absolutely love series. Especially when I am about to read the first book in a series that promises a new and interesting literary treat.

This is the first in a series of detective stories, which are a great choice for cold winter days. And a great puzzle for all fans of this genre.

A brutal murder brings Detective Eve Bennett and her specialist team – Clyde, Collin, Ray and Bina into the midst of a large polygamist society. Kind of like a cult, where the rules are a little different than what we’re used to. Quite shocking as well.

Four victims from one family were found dead. The father, his two wives, and the son were brutally murdered. But what raises countless questions is the disappearance of the daughter. The killing is ferocious, and the tracks are limited. But what troubles the team is where is Hannah? Is she safe? What is the correct step in the race against time?

As the team slowly tries to carry out the investigation, obstacles arise from all sides. New faces, some familiar stand in the way to the truth. Will Eve manage to find the ferocious killer? Will she be able to face her past and solve the case?

As I mentioned at the beginning Only Girl Alive is the 1st in the Detective Eve Bennett series by Holly S. Roberts. And if we judge the story itself, the author promises an excellent series for all lovers of crime stories.

Only Girl Alive by Holly S. Roberts has great plot and enough intrigue and suspense to make you question everything you’ve read before. The Polygamist Sect is a great addition that offers us a glimpse into something unusual and laced with enough mind blowing horrors to keep us on the edge of our seats till the very end.

I would also say that this book is much more than a classic crime story. At the same time, it offers an insight into the functioning of these polygamist families. Furthermore, it shows what mental and physical abuse can do to a person. What are the consequences of such beliefs?

And yes, at times, this story moved on the border of reality. Certain parts of Only Girl Alive by Holly S. Roberts were too emphasized and unbelievable. But honestly, I don’t have enough knowledge on the subject to be able to confirm or deny anything.

However, Only Girl Alive by Holly S. Roberts is a great tale with well-crafted characters. There was also enough background information for all the more important characters so that the readers can get to know them better. The character of the detective Eve is a quite refreshing. With interesting life expectations and views, she is quite a unique character who manages to leave an impression on the readers.

What also separates this story is Eve’s personal connection to the case. Her past adds great insight into the workings of the polygamist group.

If you’re in the mood for a thrilling, fast-paced and highly-engaged horror story, check Only Girl Alive by Holly S. Roberts out. A refreshing subject, spiced with saucy twists, this is a book that can definitely be read in one sitting.
