We are all in love with the idea of love. We love romantic comedies, romantic books, incompatible couples, and happy endings… And a small piece of romance can be found in every corner, whether in the meaning of a bow, in support, in looks… but I think that the most beautiful love sayings are seen hidden in the depths of literary works.
As an avid reader, especially of books with a love theme, I very often come across lines, filled with extraordinary and magical declarations of love, sentences that make your heart flutter and put a smile on your face…
I simply love writing down quotes from books I am reading. I am forever writing or highlighting words I like. Sharing sentences or whole paragraphs, especially romantic ones, is my favorite pass time. I use them in my reviews quite a lot.
Whether it is something that softens me, makes me cry, makes me sigh, or shocks me … I love quotes. Therefore sharing our favorite quotes is the perfect outlet so that they get the attention they deserve.
Here is a list of some of the most romantic lines that I really liked.
Pride & Prejudice by Jane Austin.
“The very first moment I beheld him, my heart was irrevocably gone.”
APA. Austen, J. (2003). Pride and Prejudice (V. Jones, Ed.). Penguin Classics
You must have known by now that I am an incorrigible romantic, but this quote here is one of the most romantic things I have ever read.
“In vain have I struggled. It will not do. My feelings will not be repressed. You must allow me tell you how ardently I admire and love you.”
APA. Austen, J. (2003). Pride and Prejudice (V. Jones, Ed.). Penguin Classics
This quote came from Darcy’s first marriage proposal extended to Elizabeth. The marriage proposal that she refused. But it so swoon-worthy…
“You are too generous to trifle with me. If your feelings are still what they were last April, tell me so at once. My affections and wishes are unchanged, but one word from you will silence me on this subject for ever.”
APA. Austen, J. (2003). Pride and Prejudice (V. Jones, Ed.). Penguin Classics
The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks.
“I wrote you 365 letters. I wrote you every day for a year. It wasn’t over… it still isn’t over.”
Sparks, N. (1998). The Notebook. Little, Brown and Company
WOW…this is totally romantic….
“It’s not going to be easy. It’s going to be really hard. And we’re going to have to work on this every day, but I want to do that because I want you. I want all of you, forever, you and me.”
Sparks, N. (1998). The Notebook. Little, Brown and Company
If this wasn’t a part of your wedding vows, you’re doing it wrong.
Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy
“I’ve always loved you, and when you love someone, you love the whole person, just as he or she is, and not as you would like them to be.”
Tolstoy, L. (1995). Anna Karenina (A. Maude & L. Maude, Trans.). Wordsworth Editions
Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte
“Every atom of your flesh is as dear to me as my own: in pain and sickness it would still be dear.”
Bronte, C. (1992). Jane Eyre. Wordsworth Editions.
Emma by Jane Austen
“’I certainly must,′ said she.
‘This sensation of listlessness, weariness, stupidity, this disinclination to sit down and employ myself, this feeling of everything’s being dull and insipid about the house! I must be in love; I should be the oddest creature in the world if I were not.’”
Austen, J. (1992). Emma. Wordsworth Editions
Gone with the Wind by Margaret Mitchell
“You should be kissed, and often, and by someone who knows how.”
Mitchell, M. (2014). Gone with the wind. Pan Books.
Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë
“He’s more myself than I am. Whatever our souls are made of, his and mine are the same.”
Bronte, E. (2012). Wuthering Heights. Penguin Classics.
Great Expectations by Charles Dickens
“Love her, love her, love her! If she favours you, love her. If she wounds you, love her. If she tears your heart to pieces – and as it gets older and stronger, it will tear deeper – love her, love her, love her!”
Dickens, C. (1992). Great Expectations. Wordsworth Editions.
Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare
“My bounty is as boundless as the sea, My love as deep. The more I give to thee, The more I have, for both are infinite.”
Shakespeare, W. (1993). Romeo and Juliet. Dover Publications.
The Princess Bride by William Goldman

Les Miserables by Victor Hugo
