***My Review***
A Thousand Splendid Suns is a magnificent, memorable, and wonderful book by Afghan writer Hosseini that will stay with you long after you finish reading it.
It is a remarkable narrative that masterfully depicts the harsh existence of Afghan women, their sacrifices, and their sorrows.
The lives of two young women, one a bit older than the other and sometimes her mother, are depicted in this incredibly moving narrative.
Mariam is destined to live without parental love because she was born an undesired kid to a father who doesn’t want her. Her mother also educates her on the fact that women will always be guilty in the eyes of men in addition to verbal and physical violence. The little girl somehow imprints it in her memory, but it will take her a few years to realize what it means.
Laila, on the other hand, appears to have had a better upbringing and existence, but due to the explosions in Kabul when she is fifteen, she loses both of her parents. She was coerced into marrying Rashid and is the same age as Mariam. She departs from her hometown to live with him 700 kilometers away.
The two young girls will be connected by fate or sad events. They will all be in the same situation and endure the horrible treatment that will inevitably come their way together.
Their spouses’ treatment of them, which included severe physical violence that rendered them less valued than animals, was not even close to what women would expect from a man.
Their common desire is “to survive and save themselves from hell.” But will they succeed? You’ll have to keep reading to learn if they’ll finally succeed and at what cost.
A Thousand Splendid Suns is a tale that delves into the deepest recesses of the human psyche. A work of literature that discreetly reminds you that you have a thousand and one fantastic reasons to cherish life. To be grateful that your life will not be like Mariam and Laila’s, whose lives will be interwoven.
The account of a woman’s existence, the thorny and tough route that she travels as a woman and mother in the society to which she belongs, is profound, empathetic, and highly emotional. Her place is at the very bottom. The most challenging aspect is that it generally occurs within the family.
Women’s mistreatment, regulations that applied to everyone in these nations, stoning, restriction of the freedom to free movement, and curfews are only a few examples of people’s daily lives there. Riots are caused by restricting and disregarding human rights. The widespread abuse of guns causes riots and thousands of innocent victims.
Although Mariam and Laila are the main characters of this novel, every single character was described correctly and given their own space, which is uncommon to discover from most of the best fiction writers, whether they write contemporary historical fiction or both. When the plot seemed to be progressing normally, the author continually astounded us with unexpected twists and turns.
The military situations in Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iran, and Turkmenistan are depicted in dramatic detail. Touching descriptions are used to illustrate what took place under the Taliban’s authority and how lives were lost. Nevertheless, with a smart storytelling approach as well. The entire narrative is only made more challenging and depressing by the actual moment of experiencing the narration as if you were witnessing the events in front of you. It demonstrates how males treat women in Muslim nations and their attitudes toward them.
The crown for heroism goes to Mariam, whose suffering and selfless life brought many tears to my eyes. In closing, I would just want to say that both women are heroines.
A load of souls is much like carrying your weight. Every phrase, every mishap, and every moment are so exquisitely detailed in this novel that they won’t let go of your hands.
A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini is not the book you are holding in your hands; rather, it is the opposite. This novel has an unimaginable grip on you.
Never have I wept this much, I believe. A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini was outstanding in every way. Although I frequently read books with darker subjects, the conclusion of this one left me feeling emotionally drained. I unmistakably sensed the characters’ anguish, emotions, and pain.
This novel moved me to my core, shook me, and made me weep. I’ll remember it for a long time, that is why I suggest it to everyone. A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini is simply fantastic.
